Dr. Najma is not only a distinguished gynecologist of D.G khan but also well-known figure in literary circles. She was born in a village named Jindani-Wala inn the outskirts of Dera Ghazi Khan. Having completed her early education in D.G Khan, she did her MBBS 1996 in Nishtar Medical College, Multan. After doing house job she started her practice as medical officer in district headquarter hospital D.G Khan and along with it set up her own private hospital which is regarded as one of the most reliable and prominent hospital in the city. A large of far-flung areas visit hospital and get cured. Dr. Najma is rendering her valuable medical services in D.G Khan.

Despite her constant preoccupation with her medical profession, establishing a prominent position among leading poets of the country in such a short span of time is the true reflection of her deep devotion to poetry. Her first volume of poems entitled “Phool Se Bichri Khushbu” when published in 2007, captured the attention of literary circles of its unique diction, style and compelling title. It was because of her first poetic composition that the journey of her literary career started.

In a short time span of three years (2007-2010) she composed another rich volume entitled “Main Ankhen Band Rakhti Hum” which won widespread acclaim and gained her recognition at national and international levels. She closely examined the sufferings and pain of a woman of siraiki community and made her the subject of poetic works.

Her third volume of poetry entitled “Aur Sham Thehr Gai” Published in 2013 gained popular acceptance as a unique and beautiful piece of writing. Her fourth composition “Phool Khushbu Aur Tara” and a novel are currently under print and publication. Dr. Najma has won several special awards in recognition of her valuable services in Urdu literature like

  2. Benazir Bhutto Award
  3. Darshan Magazine Award

Three students doing master degree from Islamia University Bahawalpur, Federal University Islamabad and Lucknow University India have written thesis on literary work of the recommended author. Renowned critics like Amjad Islam Amjad, Mahmood Sham, Dr. Sehr Ansari, Bushra Rehman, Dr. Aslam Ansari, Satiyapal Anand, Amjad Mirza (U.K). Khwaja Ikram(India), Sheikh Sajid Gurmani, Muzaffar Ahmad(UK) and Dr. Tahir Taunsvi have acknowledged her remarkable contributions in their different pieces of writing carried by different journals and magazines.

Considering her great literary services, the Arts Council of Pakistan has appointed her to act as the scrutiny member of her division. In view of her services and love for humanity she was appointed chairperson of the women wing of national solidarity and Religious Harmony, Southern Punjab. P.T.V Pakistan has included her in outstanding poet category in recognition of her literary services.

Her poetry is regularly published in all national newspapers like Nawa-e-Waat, Jung, Duniya, Samaa, Pakistan, Khabrain, Jinnah as well as international newspapers and magazines like UK Time, Pukaar, Samundar Magazine (Germany and India). Her work is also read in national and international radio programs and published in all Pakistani Magazines like Biaz, Taqweeq, Harf, Seep, Al-Hamra, Tameer-e-Adab and others.

Living and working in tribal area of Dera Ghazi Khan and being involved in such literary work is like sealing steep rugged mountains. Despite such tiring circumstances, she established the very first literary organization for women of her region with the name of “Aanchal” of which she is the President and its heart and soul. She has conducted many literary programs for women of her area so far under the organization.
